SIMLOX ADVANCED COURSE

Objectives

The SIMLOX advanced course covers a wide range of modeling topics
  • Damage modeling
  • Mission formations
  • Transfers of of equimpment and systems (typical in international mission scenarios)
  • Mission dependancies )
  • Operational profiles with random components (mission length, number of missions etc)
  • System Reconfiguration (weapon config)
  • Groups of units assigned to an operational profile
  • Item / mission criticality
  • Mission Resources (example: pilots)
  • Lateral support
  • Failure mode task modeling
  • Analysis using confidence measures
The exercises include mainly ship, train and aircraft oriented scenarios and focus can be directed towards those areas of most importance for the student.

The course also cover the following interesting topics
  • Example of import of data from an LSAR database
  • Running SIMLOX from an external data source
  • SIMLOX data mining
The SIMLOX data mining exercise shows how simulations can be automized and data be saved PER replication for further analysis. A SIMLOX data mining tool is used to illustrate this fact and this tool is general enough to collect any type of existing SIMLOX results per replications. An example of where results per replictation become interesting is when evaluating a penalty cost for a scenario given that certain performance requirements fail to be met. The SIMLOX data mining tool and exercises files are distributed to the students after completing the course.

Course structure

The course length is 3 days and is intended for a maximum of 8 students. Much effort is put into analysing and explaining SIMLOX results. Some of the exercises will also use OPUS10 as comparison or import of data (no requirement that you have taken the OPUS10 basic course though).

Pre-requisites

Attendees should have completed the SIMLOX Basic Course.
