SIMLOX COURSE
Objective
One objective with the course is to enable students to understand basic logistics modeling and how it fits within the Monte Carlo simulation framework used by SIMLOX. Furthermore, one of the main purposes is to make the student familiar with the most important SIMLOX functionalities.
More specifically the student will at the end of the course be able to:
- Understand in what situations it could be beneficial to complement an OPUS calculation with a SIMLOX simulation
- Understand how to model Resources, Preventive Maintainance, Lateral Support and Robbing
- Build advanced Operational Profiles
- Input and test datasets
- Run SIMLOX and select results for customized reports.
- Understand the different types of Measures of Effectiveness (MoE) used by SIMLOX, for example: Availability, Accumulated Mission Time, Mission Success Fraction, Risk of Shortage (with Tolerance), Waiting Time for Spares (with Tolerance), Resource Waiting Time, Number of Backorders and many more
- Interpret percentile measures with respect to Availability and Accumulated Mission Time
- Validate the simulation results
- Import and export data
Course Structure
The course is a workshop for a maximum of 8 students that will include manual calculation and hands-on use of SIMLOX, to reinforce learning points. Attendees are requested to provide a calculator for their own use. The exercises are intended to challenge the students' ability to analyze the information provided and apply it to the model.Pre-requisites
To gain the most from the course it is preferable that the attendees has previously taken the basic OPUS course.Details
